Required Actions

The Required Actions report is actually five separate reports,

  • Broken Pages,
  • Broken Events,
  • Out-of-Sync Pages,
  • Out-of-Sync Events, and
  • Orphan Pages.

Each one deals with page and link management.

Broken Pages and EventsLink to this section

Available to: All user levels. Level 9 and 10 users see all broken files in the site; users levels 0 through 8 only see broken files to which they have access.

This report shows all files that have broken links, as long as those links are managed by dependency manager. Links that are not dependency tags (for example links to external content, mailto links, and other hard-coded URLs) won't appear in the report even if they break.

Dependency manager handles links to content that is renamed or moved. When a file is deleted, the link breaks and appears in this report.

If binary management is in use, broken images appear in this report as well. Missing assets and components are also caught in this report.

The report lists the files with broken dependency tags, showing their file path and status. Click the file path to view and edit the file.

Out-of-Sync Pages and EventsLink to this section

Available to: Users levels 9 and 10.

Files are shown in this report when an error occurs during publish, such as losing Internet connectivity, and causes a discrepancy between the Modern Campus CMS database and the live website. If you have multiple publish targets enabled, a page or event might also appear in the report if it's been updated on one target but not another. For Modern Campus CMS calendar, you can see and republish events that have been edited since last published.

Fix out-of-sync pages and events by republishing them; this can be done by publishing each page manually, or using the Publish All button. This uses the last published version of the file, and any checked-out files remain checked out.

Orphan PagesLink to this section

Available to: Users levels 9 and 10.

Use the Orphan Pages report to find and delete pages and binary files on your staging server that are not linked to other pages on your site(s). As part of the search, the report checks only the last published version on any publish target. Unpublished content is checked for dependency tags.

The search looks for dependency tags in pages, assets, the content of components, and Modern Campus CMS Calendar events.

Schedule the report to run weekly or monthly or Run the report manually. Scheduled reports run at 11:59 PM, based on your site's time zone. To prevent a report from being scheduled, click Schedule > Manual Only.

See the report using a link in your inbox or Export CSV.

To exclude a page, file, or folder from the report, select the checkbox for the file and click Exclude from Report. You can also exclude a page, file, or folder in the file's access settings.
