OU Campus includes a database abstraction layer. This provides a level of flexibility for self-hosted clients. Prior versions of OU Campus relied on Sybase or Microsoft SQL server for the application database. With the database application layer, the application database can reside on an installation of MySQL, adding to the list of supported database platforms. This also paves the way for support of additional database platforms in the future.
- Sybase: Supported as of version 8.0, but cannot run with OU Campus version 10 (still supported for customers running version 9).
- Microsoft SQL: Supported as of version 8.0.
- MySQL: Supported as of version 9.0.
- PostgreSQL: Supported as of version 10.0.
The OU Campus SaaS server uses PostgreSQL as its database.
