  1. XML Foundations - UC Berkeley Course Video

This 10 session course (approx. 15 hours) is a high quality series of lectures led by Bob Glushko a founder of 2 successful Silicon Valley companies and a noted authority in Document Engineering. Viewing requires, at least, the free version of RealPlayer.

The following lectures (7.75 hours) are quite relevant to XML/XLS in OmniUpdate. They are not overly technical and ground the technology in both history and fact. The lectures both inform and set a framework for understanding so as to develop reasonable and well-founded expectations. Viewing these videos is an efficient way to gain a good perspective and understanding.

    Lectures 1 through 5 (8/30 through 9/13) and Lectures 9 & 10 (9/27 & 9/29).

If one is really pressed for time, there is a summary starting around minute 42 in Lecture 10 (9/29).

  2. XSL Transformation on Wikipedia
  3. ZVON.org – The Guide to the XML Galaxy

A great site for quick reference and clarifications. Also useful for intermediate to advanced webmasters as a starting point. Try these tutorials:

  4. List of XML and HTML character entity reference

A useful document when creating DTD's. Referenced in the page tagging sub-section of the "Using XML/XSLT" documentation.
