The RSS feature of OmniUpdate allows Administrators to easily implement a notification system that interested parties can subscribe to. RSS feeds make it possible to create a workflow that starts with content creation/editing and ends with public notification of new content. This saves time for both your staff and your visitors. If you’d like more information on RSS, please visit our Additional Resources page for further details. For information on Media RSS, see the Media RSS documentation.

Using RSS within OmniUpdate can seem a little daunting at first, but it’s really quite simple. Your administrators who are logged into our system can create an unlimited number of RSS feeds. Upon creation of those feeds, admins will then be able to publish various articles and other types of content to those feeds.  For an introduction to creating RSS feeds in Omniupdate visit the RSS Tutorial.

A typical visitor to your site might visit several sites including yours throughout the course of a given day. Through the use of our RSS feature, that visitor can subscribe to the RSS feeds your staff creates and be instantly notified of breaking news, emergencies, and events on campus. Imagine students subscribing to be notified of class updates, such as class cancellations, new resources, and upcoming tests.

RSS is just another amazing tool that we provide to help you manage your content and improve your website.
